About Louie Ramos

Louie Ramos, Ph.D., is a musical arranger for orchestra, chorale and big band. As one of the founders of FASO, Ramos serves as the Vice President of the organization’s Board of Directors. An advocate for the development and promotion of young talent, Ramos initiated and currently runs FASO's Education & Outreach Program, which includes: workshops and classes in vocal and instrument performance, as well as songwriting. This program also has a Youth String Ensemble providing classes and free access to string instruments for underserved communities in Los Angeles. He also spearheaded FASO's International Composition Competition for emerging composers

Ramos has written over 60 orchestral arrangements for the Filipino American Symphony Orchestra in the past decade. His works have also been performed by the Pasadena Symphony, Asia America Symphony Orchestra, Colburn Chamber Orchestra, Philippine Chamber Singers LA, Los Angeles Children's Chorus, and many other ensembles. Ramos earned a Ph.D. degree in computer science with a minor in music theory and composition from the University of Southern California. He completed a professional certificate in arranging and production from Berklee College of Music, where he was awarded the Michel Camilo Scholarship. Louie enjoys a dual career in computer science and music, as a software architect and music teacher at the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus.
